Pickleball for South Africa was established two years ago to grow the sport in Durban.
Michelle Kriese, provincial director of Pickleball South Africa, said the organisation focuses on creating venues, hosting tournaments, and building a strong local community for the sport.
“Pickleball is a fast-growing sport that originated in America. It combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis. It’s easy to play, with an underhand serve and a lightweight ball, making it accessible to people of all skill levels — even those with little racquet experience,” said Kriese.

She encouraged the community to come and experience the action firsthand. “We’ll be on the courts with Gauteng, and we’d love for everyone to join us and see what pickleball is all about,” she said.
