Learners take stride to raise funds

The Curro Cares initiative hosted their annual fundraiser that saw learners embark on a fun walk on Valentine’s Day.

THE Curro Hillcrest community embraced the spirit of giving this Valentine’s Day by taking part in the annual Curro Cares Walk on Friday, February 14.

This fundraising initiative supports the school’s outreach programme, with learners from the primary and high school enthusiastically walking a 1km track on the primary school campus, while pre-school children enjoyed a smaller, age-appropriate course on their own campus.

Curro Hillcrest Outreach representative Iona Joshua, explained that before the walk, learners secured pledges from donors who committed to contributing a certain amount per lap completed. “Each learner aimed to complete as many laps as possible, and after the walk, they proudly collected their pledged donations while reporting their lap counts,” said Joshua.

The goal for this year’s Curro Cares Walk was to raise over R250 000. All proceeds collected will go directly towards various outreach projects, reinforcing the school’s commitment to making a meaningful impact in the local community.

Joshua emphasised that the Curro Cares Walk is more than just a fundraiser. “It’s an opportunity for learners to engage with and actively support their community. From Group 3 to Grade 12, students learn the value of giving back and the importance of community involvement,” she said.
