Join walk to raise cancer awareness
Support the fight against cancer and join a walk on Sunday aimed at raising awareness about the disease.
TO raise awareness on cancer, the Waterlily Women’s Group will host its annual walk in Kloof on Sunday, February 23.
The walk will be in memory of Cindy Paparam, a 45-year-old wife and mother of two who died of cancer and was laid to rest on Wednesday, February 19.
Chairperson of the group, Ivey Govender, said with February being Cancer Prevention Awareness Month, they appeal to people to join them in raising awareness, but most importantly to spread love to people infected and affected by cancer.

The women’s group also has a cancer support group, which meets once a month at Wyebank Crèche. The support group is for those fighting the disease and for families who have lost loved ones, as well as for those in remission.
With the group’s motto being, ‘Each time a woman stands up for herself, she stands up for every woman’, Govender invited women from all walks of life to join them on their walk.
The walk will start at 33 Village Road outside First National Bank.
The cost is R50 per person and participants are encouraged to wear a pink or white T-shirt. All proceeds will go to the families of cancer survivors. Contact Ivey Govender on 083 279 9046.
