THE community of Westville came together to celebrate the life of long-time resident Ann Pape, a beloved figure known for the Christmas decorations that illuminated Harwarden Crescent for decades. In honour of her memory, friends, family, and neighbours gathered at her home, sharing heartfelt stories over laughter, drinks, and supper.
Her daughter, Karen Pape, described her mother as a generous and endlessly creative spirit.

“After experiencing the magic of Christmas in America, she wanted to bring that same wonder to Westville. For over 30 years, she created a sense of joy and community through her displays. We received beautiful letters of appreciation each year, but the outpouring of love now has been truly heart-melting.
“I just wish she was here to see it. Thank you all — she is our angel now, watching over us. And we will make sure the angels and the magic live on,” she said.

The  Westville Community Policing Forum noted Pape’s deep love for flowers and invited the community to pay tribute by placing flowers, messages, and candles outside her gate.
On the day of her memorial, her home once again glowed with Christmas lights and flowers, a fitting tribute to the warmth and joy she brought to the community.
