Watch: Westville parents protest against principal

The parents said they wanted the department to take action against the principal's alleged misconduct.

A SMALL group of angry parents gathered outside Westville Senior Primary School this morning (Friday, May 23) demanding answers after the principal who was suspended resumed his duties.

According to the parents, the principal resumed duties without answering the allegations against him.

One of the parents, Judy Galassi, said there have been many complaints ranging from defamation to financial mismanagement against the principal.

“For three years, Westville Senior teachers have spoken up, but their voices have gone unheard. We are calling on the Department of Education to listen, investigate and take action to ensure a better future for our school.

“We stand for the teachers who have not been heard. When we stand together, we show our children that speaking up for what’s right is important,” said Galassi.

The Highway Mail has sent a query to the Department of Education and awaits a response.

My name is Sanelisiwe Tsinde, and I'm a mother of two boys and very family-oriented. Being a community journalist for years, I can proudly say I love writing about positive community news articles and giving a voice to the voiceless. Seeing people getting assistance warms my heart. Every day is a different challenge and a new learning opportunity. I supply news for our trusted publication weekly, and a few years ago, Caxton ventured into online publication, so I contribute daily to the websites. I could say I am a multimedia journalist, and working in a community newspaper is beneficial as we do not focus on one thing but we do a bit of everything.
