School gets critical first aid kits donation
Thanks to a sponsorship, Gillitts Primary School will now have more first aid kits, with each classroom having a mini one.
THE injury of a Gillitts Primary School pupil a few weeks ago led to the realisation that there was only one first aid kit for all the learners and staff.
This prompted the chairperson of the school governing body (SGB), Geraldine Ramsuran, to look for sponsors who could assist the school with more kits.
Ramsuran’s search was fruitful and she thanked Mike Lemon of MSL Medical whose sponsorship means more kits for the school, with each classroom having a mini one.
The school’s principal, Arti Jadoo, said Lemon, through MSL Medical, on Thursday (June 25) gave staff a professional development programme and training on first aid.

The training, said Jadoo, included practicals, a test and certification.
“Choking is sometimes an issue, so this training is welcomed. The first aid kits the school will receive will be replenished by MSL Medical when the need arises. This is such an amazing initiative because the school cannot afford such lessons and first aid kits, all of which is very costly,” said Jadoo.
Ramsuran said: “This valuable contribution will help ensure the safety and well-being of our learners and staff.”
Lemon said: “This partnership reflects our ongoing commitment to making a meaningful difference in the communities we serve. MSL Medical looks forward to maintaining and strengthening this sponsorship for as long as possible, ensuring that both learners and staff continue to benefit from improved health, safety and educational support.”
