CURRO Hillcrest’s Sarah Reed is among the school’s athletes set for the world stage after eight current learners and alumni were named to represent South Africa at the 2026 World Athletics U20 Championships, taking place in Eugene, Oregon, US, from August 5 to 9.

The call-ups follow months of strong performances on the national circuit, with Curro athletes consistently delivering medal-winning displays, breaking records and cementing their places among South Africa’s brightest young athletics prospects.

Sarah has been picked for both the 200m and the 4x100m relay after another strong season on the track.

The Grade 11 learner completed a sprint double at the SA Schools Championships, winning both the 100m and 200m titles, before being named Top Performing Athlete at the KwaZulu-Natal Sports Awards.

 She heads into the World Championships with personal bests of 11.72 seconds for the 100m and 23.20 seconds for the 200m.

“To have so many current learners and alumni selected to compete on the world stage is an exceptional achievement and a testament to the culture of excellence that exists across Curro’s athletics programme,” said Cindy van der Merwe, Portfolio Manager of Curro Sport.
