Kloof and Highway SPCA thanks supporters
With the Thrift Shops being one of the Kloof and Highway SPCA's largest sources of income, the organisation has appealed to residents planning to declutter their homes to consider donating unwanted items to them.
THE Kloof and Highway SPCA has thanked its supporters for their continued generosity, while appealing to the community to remember its Thrift Shops when clearing out unwanted household items.
Operations manager Sarah van Heerden, said donations to the organisation’s Thrift Shops is one of its largest sources of income which helps to fund essential animal welfare services, including food, shelter and veterinary care for vulnerable animals.

Van Heerden said that although emergency appeals and fundraising drives often take centre stage, they wanted to take a moment to acknowledge the community members whose ongoing support makes its work possible.
“Every bag of clothing, every household item, every book, ornament, toy or piece of furniture that is donated helps us provide food, shelter, medical care and hope to animals in need.”
However, the SPCA revealed that it has experienced a noticeable decline in both the number and quality of donations received over the past 12 months.
“We know this is not because people care any less. We see the reality of what many families are facing. We hear the stories of job losses and financial hardship. We understand that times are tough,” said van Heerden.

The organisation also extended its gratitude to those who donated to its Thrift Shops in the past but are currently unable to contribute.
“Your past kindness has made a difference that still echoes through our kennels and catteries today.”
Residents who are planning to declutter their homes are encouraged to donate unwanted clothing, furniture, books, toys and household goods to one of the Kloof and Highway SPCA Thrift Shops, where the items can be resold to generate funds for animal care.
“No donation ever goes unnoticed. No act of kindness is ever too small. From all of us, and from every animal whose life has been touched by your generosity, thank you.”
