Hillcrest High and Durban Symphonic Choir in concert

The choirs will perform classical, modern and other favoured choral pieces on Sunday, August 23 at the school's hall.

When a school hits its 50th year and a choir marks its 60th, you don’t just throw a party, you sing. The Hillcrest High School Choir and the Durban Symphonic Choir are coming together for a collaborative milestone concert that bridges generations, classroom energy, and a shared love for local music-making.

The Durban Symphonic Choir

The afternoon is designed around the joy of community singing, taking the audience on a journey through classical masterworks, modern pop, and timeless choral favourites.

What’s on the music stand:

  • Sacred & Classical Traditions: The Durban Symphonic Choir brings magnificent depth to the stage with powerful excerpts from Mozart, Haydn, Mendelssohn and more.
  • Learner Spirit & Modern Hits: The Hillcrest High School Choir brings high energy and fresh arrangements to the hall, opening with traditional South African harmony before jumping into crowd favourites by Curtis Mayfield, Pink, and Journey.
  • The Massed Finale: The real highlight of the night sees students and seasoned choristers standing shoulder to shoulder as a combined massed choir to perform choral favourites.
