Elderly man arrested for alleged rape of a minor

A man was arrested at the KK Section flats in KwaDabeka in connection with the rape of a child who was allegedly found at his residence.

A man aged between 69 and 70 was recently arrested for the alleged rape of a 14-year-old and made appearances at the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court.

KZN SAPS spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Paul Magwaza, confirmed that following the man’s arrest by detectives from the Pinetown Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS), he made his first appearance at the court in late September.

It is alleged that the man had raped the child earlier in September in the KwaDabeka area.

It is alleged that the child had been sent to the shops and did not return home, which eventually prompted the mother to report the child missing at the KwaDabeka SAPS.

It is alleged that a few days later after the mother reported the child missing to the police, the mother received an anonymous tip-off about the child’s whereabouts and when they followed this up, the child was allegedly found at the suspect’s place of residence where the alleged rape was revealed.
