Perpetrator wanted for stabbing Pinetown police officer

The Pinetown police station is in search of a suspect who allegedly stabbed an officer to death. They also wish to inform the public about a temporary Community Service Centre move.

THE Pinetown police station is appealing to the public to come forward with information regarding the murder of their police officer who was stabbed. The station’s communications officer, Bongmusa Manqele, said their colleague was allegedly stabbed on Sunday on Josiah Gumede Road while he was off duty.

“We got an alert that someone had been stabbed, and when we got to the scene, we discovered that it was one of our colleagues,” he said.

Manqele said the events leading up to the scene are currently being investigated. “We were told by eyewitnesses that an argument ensued between the victim and an unknown person when he was stabbed and succumbed to the injuries. No one has been arrested yet as we did not find the alleged perpetrator at the scene,” he said.

Manqele also noted, with importance, that the police station in Pinetown will be temporarily moved due to renovations as of Wednesday, October 12.

“The renovations will take about one month to be finished, and services rendered by the Community Service Centre will temporarily be moved to the OCC building situated inside the police station. Members of the community will be directed to the OCC building when they arrive at the station.”

The station can be contacted at 031 325 5080/81/79/38/39. The management of the station apologised for the inconvenience.
