Splash into the holiday season at Highway’s swimming pools

The City has urged the public to adhere to the by-laws and enjoy swimming responsibly.

SWIMMING pools around Durban are open from 06:00 to 18:00 this festive season.

In the Highway area, people can visit Lahee Park in Pinetown and Westville swimming pools.

With Durban known for its beautiful sunny weather, crowds of people visit their nearest swimming pools to cool off.

Many parents said they go to the swimming pools regularly with their children as there is always a friendly atmosphere.

eThekwini Municipality spokesperson Msawakhe Mayisela asked the public to adhere to the by-laws and wear proper swimwear.

“Children under ten years must be accompanied by an adult,” he said.

He stated that non-aquatic events are prohibited and emphasised that they will not tolerate people bringing alcohol to the pools.

Prohibited at the public swimming pools:

– diving
– running
– bombing
– inflatables (except for child swimming aids)
– jumping
– glass bottles
– coal braais
– loud music
– alcohol
– pets
– weapons
– cycling
– balls
– horseplay
