18 people sustain injuries in a collision

Injured taxi occupants have been sent to various Durban hospitals after a serious accident in Pinetown.

Eighteen people have been injured in a serious accident on Wiltshire Road just before 08:00 on Saturday morning.  ALS Paramedics Medical Services reported that they arrived on the scene to find total carnage.

“One fully loaded taxi and a light motor vehicle had collided in a head-on format. Multiple people were found to be injured, and immediately more ambulances, as well as Advanced Life Support Paramedics, were dispatched to the scene,” they said.

According to ALS, a total of 18 people sustained injuries, ranging from moderate to serious, and were stabilised on the scene before being transported to various Durban hospitals for the further treatment they required. 

At this stage, the events leading up to the accident are unknown, however, SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
