Metro officer shot dead on M7
Motorists have been advised to stay away from Stapleton Road, heading toward the M13 freeway, as there is severe traffic congestion.

A METRO Police officer has been killed in a shooting incident which occurred on the M7 Durban Bound at Hans Detman off-ramp.
Garrith Jamieson from ALS Paramedics said they were called to the scene just before 07:00.

“On assessment, it was discovered that the officer had sustained a fatal gunshot wound. Unfortunately, there was nothing more paramedics could do for the man, and he was declared deceased,” said Jamieson.
There are reports that the officer was killed after suspects hijacked the Metro vehicle. It was reported that the vehicle has been recovered on Stapleton Road, and there is a second officer that was injured during this incident.
Marshall Security Andreas Mathios has advised people to stay away from Stapleton Road, heading toward the M13 freeway, as there is severe traffic congestion.
