One person dies and two others are injured in a collision

A man dies after a vehicle collides with the rear of a truck.

ONE person has been killed and another is in critical condition after an accident on the N2 Southbound near Westwood Mall just before 06:00 on Thursday morning.

ALS Paramedics Medical Services spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said they arrived on the scene to find total carnage after a light motor vehicle had collided with the rear of a truck on the highway.

“One person, a male believed to be in his 50s, sustained fatal injuries, and unfortunately, there was nothing more paramedics could do for him, and he was declared deceased on the scene. Another person, a female believed to be in her 50s, was found in a critical condition and was stabilised on the scene before being rushed through to a nearby Durban Hospital.” 

He said a third person sustained moderate injuries and was stabilised on the scene before being transported to a nearby Durban Hospital.  

At this stage, the events leading up to the accident are unknown, however, SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
