Fun at Forest Hills 5-a-side soccer event

The club congratulated everyone who took part in the exciting tournament.

A SUCCESSFUL annual Oxford Forest Hills Football (FHFC) 5-a-side was held on Wednesday, May 1.

Almost 1 300 aspirant footballers, from U6 to U17, and a ladies’ division took the field over for the day and gave their all.

The event was hosted over one day with the juniors playing in the morning and the seniors in the afternoon.

Hosted by Dave Guselli, the players and supporters were entertained throughout the day with vibrant music to keep the atmosphere at a high!

As a special twist, this year featured ‘The Oxford Finals Field’ where the final matches were played on a dedicated field complete with field branding and a grandstand to create an atmosphere that really made the day that much more special.

Dave Hewison, the FHFC chairman, said they were incredibly proud of the tournament they had managed to put together, and they were sure that all of the children had a great time.

“The games were played in a fantastic spirit, and we congratulate all who took part. We would also like to extend our thanks to our title sponsors, Oxford Freshmarket, as well as to Brent Civil and Peckish Foods for the assistance that they gave us on the day. We look forward to doing it all again next year.”

My name is Sanelisiwe Tsinde, and I'm a mother of two boys and very family-oriented. Being a community journalist for years, I can proudly say I love writing about positive community news articles and giving a voice to the voiceless. Seeing people getting assistance warms my heart. Every day is a different challenge and a new learning opportunity. I supply news for our trusted publication weekly, and a few years ago, Caxton ventured into online publication, so I contribute daily to the websites. I could say I am a multimedia journalist, and working in a community newspaper is beneficial as we do not focus on one thing but we do a bit of everything.
