Driver airlifted to hospital after collision on M19

A helicopter landed on the M19 to transport a critically injured driver after a collision.

MOTORISTS have been advised to avoid the route on the Otto Volek Bridge on the M19 due to a single-vehicle collision that happened on Wednesday November 6. ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson reported that the driver is being airlifted to hospital after sustaining critical injuries.

“The vehicle somehow lost control and rolled numerous times and collided with the concrete bridge. At this stage, the paramedics are treating the driver who has been placed in a manual ventilator and will be airlifted to hospital,” he said.

Jamieson advised motorists to steer clear of the route to allow the helicopter more space.
