Westville clean-up unites community

The group's mission is to make the area safe and free from criminals, and beautify the environment and the entrance to Westville.

TO eliminate criminal elements in the Westville area, JAG Security hosted a clean-up in St James Avenue near the Westville Swimming Pool.

This was done in conjunction with Keep Westville Beautiful, Westville SAPS, Metro Police, DSW, the Parks Department, Bob’s Tree Felling and a local gardener, Phineas Mgobhozi.

Anita Myburgh, the JAG Security director, said they chose to clear that area as the criminals were hiding in the bushes and gaining access to the buildings and stealing mostly copper.

“Just recently, we arrested a copper thief. We are clearing the bushes to ensure that we do not have people sleeping here as it makes the place look unattractive with litter lying around.”

Myburgh said their plan is to beautify that part of Westville as the entrance to the area.

Sanelisiwe Tsinde

My name is Sanelisiwe Tsinde, and I'm a mother of two boys and very family-oriented. Being a community journalist for years, I can proudly say I love writing about positive community news articles and giving a voice to the voiceless. Seeing people getting assistance warms my heart. Every day is a different challenge and a new learning opportunity. I supply news for our trusted publication weekly, and a few years ago, Caxton ventured into online publication, so I contribute daily to the websites. I could say I am a multimedia journalist, and working in a community newspaper is beneficial as we do not focus on one thing but we do a bit of everything.
