Man arrested with stolen motorcycle in Westville

The man was arrested after he abandoned the motorcycle and fled into a bush.

A MAN was arrested and a stolen motorcycle recovered following a high speed chase through the streets of Westville.

Blue Security said the incident began during a vehicle checkpoint operation which the security company held last week in collaboration with Metro Police and SAPS Westville.

“Upon approaching the checkpoint, a man in a motorcycle made a sudden U-turn and attempted to evade the operation by speeding off. Our tactical ambassador immediately pursued the motorcyclist, initiating a tense chase through the Westville area.”

“The situation escalated when the suspect entered the UKZN Westville campus, bypassing the boom gate as campus security attempted to intercept him,” said Blue Security in a statement.

The suspect abandoned the motorcycle and fled into a nearby bush.

“The tactical ambassador chased the suspect through the bush and arrested him. Additional roleplayers arrived to assist, and both the suspect and the motorcycle were handed over to SAPS for further investigation,” read the statement.

My name is Sanelisiwe Tsinde, and I'm a mother of two boys and very family-oriented. Being a community journalist for years, I can proudly say I love writing about positive community news articles and giving a voice to the voiceless. Seeing people getting assistance warms my heart. Every day is a different challenge and a new learning opportunity. I supply news for our trusted publication weekly, and a few years ago, Caxton ventured into online publication, so I contribute daily to the websites. I could say I am a multimedia journalist, and working in a community newspaper is beneficial as we do not focus on one thing but we do a bit of everything.
