Upper Highway law graduate lands international scholarship

Top achieving law graduate hopes to advocate for children’s rights.

A TOP achieving UKZN law student who recently graduated summa cum laude landed a scholarship to further her studies abroad.

Law graduate Alex Louter graduated top of her class and received a prestigious Fulbright Scholarship to pursue a Master of Laws (LLM) in the USA.

“The experience of studying Law has been truly enriching. I thoroughly enjoyed studying my Bachelor of Laws (LLB) at UKZN, the academic and support staff were phenomenal – always open for consultations to assist me with coursework or to discuss future plans and scholarship opportunities. And because of that I now have the opportunity to make my dreams a reality,” said the Upper Highway resident.

She is currently serving her articles at Norton Rose Fulbright and will soon travel to the USA to pursue an LLM in International Children’s Rights at the University of Michigan.

 

Louter’s passion for children’s rights advocacy was sparked during five months of volunteering at a home for survivors of sexual abuse and trafficking in Eswatini. She hopes to be admitted as an advocate and to dedicate her career to litigating for children’s rights.
