Crime Prevention Officer Sergeant Siboniso Shezi said they chose to distribute sandwiches because everyday they see many jobseekers near the police station sitting for hours with no food.

“We thought for this day, we could it make it bearable for them and at least get a meal while they wait,” said Shezi.
He said the bread was sponsored by BB Bakery.
“We also received sponsorship from local companies, Bargain Basket, The Drake Clothing, Boxer, and Sparcolux. We would love to thank the member from the youth desk, department of social development, community policing forum, Lifeline Crisis Centre, community safety and liaison and young girls from Sakhisizwe Ngomuntu Wesifazane NPO.”
Shezi added that some of the sandwiches were distributed to the general public at the station’s charge office.
