WATCH: Pinetown girls and boys donate to children’s home
A school teacher says collections for the donation were done by the learners and includes food, toys, colouring books, and stationery.
THE representative councils of learners (RCLs) at the sibling schools Pinetown Girls’ and Pinetown Boys’ High made a donation to a children’s home in Malvern on Wednesday, July 30.
The Girls’ High established a foundation some two years ago which aimed to collect food, toys, money and other donations for the children’s home, the Malvern Child and Youth Centre.
School teacher Tresuré Ndlovu said this year this foundation teamed up with the RCL from the Boys’ High school to make the donation, which was collected from learners.

“The home looks after 80 children, and about 20 of them are aged between four to six years, so the learners also donated colouring books for that age group, and for the children of school going age, stationery packs and homework books were donated,” said Ndlovu.
Ndlovu said since the establishment of the RCL’s foundation, this has happened annually, with this year and the previous one falling in Nelson Mandela Month.
