#WomensMonth: New Germany resident stands for safety
This week we feature Lynn Robson - the force behind New Germany and Padfield Park’s fight for community.
LYNN Robson has been part of the New Germany community policing forum for more than a decade and works tirelessly to rebuild, uplift, and protect a suburb she refuses to give up on.
For those who are close to Robson know that she does not mince her words, does not sit on the sidelines, and definitely does not back down from a challenge, especially when it comes to her beloved New Germany.
“You just do it,” when asked how she juggles it all, CPF duties, her job, two sons, three dogs, two parrots, and the work that comes with running the New Germany Padfield Park and Manors Ratepayers Association. And that is only scratching the surface.
Driving around New Germany, one might spot Robson with her CPF partner and special friend, Maddy Bouraimis, as they sift through illegally dumped waste to identify culprits, attend to burst pipes, faulty lights, and power outages. Or arranging school talks and operations mornings with local police.

But behind the humour and grit lies a deeper motive, she loves where she lives. “This is my home too,” she says. “I want to create a community that is safe and inclusive for everyone.”
Robson said she is not in the crime-fighting alone.
The New Germany CPF is one of seven sub-forums under the Pinetown SAPS cluster, covering areas such as Ashley, Wyebank, Kloof, and Motala Heights.
While the CPF structure is strong, she pointed out the support from residents is often not.
“People are scared to talk to their neighbours or report crimes. It is like there is a fear of being seen getting involved. But if not you, then who?” asked Robson.
“My strength comes from the people who show up. The residents who lend a hand. And people like my fellow patrollers, neighbours, and friends who regularly pitch in to assist.
“When you see people step up, it makes the hard days worth it.”
She added that she is excited to welcome a few new patrollers that have signed up to make their community even safer.
“The New Germany, Padfield Park and Manors Ratepayers Association are also an important part of the support my team receive.

A former plumbing industry professional, Robson now works remotely, a shift that has allowed her to stay deeply involved in community work.
She credits fellow CPF member Bouraimis, also a former Zimbabwean, as someone who inspires her.
“We have the same mindset. We just get each other.”
Robson encouraged residents to attend local CPF meetings, ask questions, and engage. “Know what is happening. Own your space. We can only fight this together.”
