NPO offers safe haven for women and children

The Lighthouse KZN is a beacon of hope and healing for women rebuilding their lives after trauma, abuse, or divorce.

AN NPO offering safe, nurturing, temporary accommodation for women and their children in times of crisis, The Lighthouse KZN, was opened on Wednesday, August 22.

Tucked away in a peaceful location in Hillcrest, this sanctuary is more than just a house – it’s a beacon of hope and healing for women rebuilding their lives after trauma, abuse, or divorce.

The opening event was a simple but special gathering, with tea, treats, and a few moving words from the founders, the team at City Hill Church, and the previous owners, all of whom made this dream possible.

Now open and fully registered, The Lighthouse offers eight bedrooms, shared living spaces, and most importantly – a space filled with love, dignity, and purpose.

Grounded in Christian values, this home aims to restore confidence and self-worth, helping women and their little ones take steps toward a brighter, independent future.

Sanelisiwe Tsinde

My name is Sanelisiwe Tsinde, and I'm a mother of two boys and very family-oriented. Being a community journalist for years, I can proudly say I love writing about positive community news articles and giving a voice to the voiceless. Seeing people getting assistance warms my heart. Every day is a different challenge and a new learning opportunity. I supply news for our trusted publication weekly, and a few years ago, Caxton ventured into online publication, so I contribute daily to the websites. I could say I am a multimedia journalist, and working in a community newspaper is beneficial as we do not focus on one thing but we do a bit of everything.
