Update: Man (63) arrested for wife’s murder

Waxy O Connors has released a statement saying that the matter is being investigated by the police and that they take the safety and well-being of their patrons and staff seriously.

A 63-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested and detained at Westville SAPS for his wife’s murder today (September 15).

It is alleged that the couple had an argument before the man pulled out a gun and shot the wife (48) at Waxy O Connors.

Westville SAPS communications officer Captain Elizabeth Squires said the shooting followed a domestic matter between the husband and wife.

“The couple were at Waxy’s when the husband drew his firearm and shot the wife in the head,” reported Squires.

In a statement, Waxy O Connors said they are aware of an incident that occurred at Waxys Westville and they take the safety and well-being of their patrons and staff seriously.

“An altercation between a husband and wife turned into a domestic violence incident. Police and forensics are conducting a full investigation into the altercation. The husband has been arrested.

“We appreciate the prompt response of the authorities and emergency services. We will provide further updates as necessary and are committed to maintaining a safe environment for everyone. We are devastated by this isolated tragic incident and the outcome,” read the statement.
