One suspect arrested after daring jewellery store robbery in Kloof

Police have arrested one suspect after a violent jewellery store robbery in Kloof, with a manhunt underway for the remaining getaway crew.

ONE suspect has been arrested following a robbery at a jewellery store in a shopping complex on Old Main Road in Kloof earlier today (Friday, November 28).

According to Pinetown SAPS communications officer Jennifer Naidu, initial reports suggested that three suspects arrived in a vehicle.

“However, as the investigation progressed, police established that two vehicles were used in the getaway and that more suspects were involved.

 

“The value of the stolen jewellery has not yet been determined,” said Naidu.

 

The shop owner was injured during the incident, and authorities are still verifying the extent of those injuries.

Naidu added that officers responded swiftly, resulting in the arrest of one suspect.

“During the pursuit, police vehicles came under fire, leaving visible bullet holes in one of the SAPS vehicles. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported.”

A search is ongoing for the remaining suspects.
