Tips as re-evaluation of properties looms

The new valuation roll will reportedly be published in February next year and is set to come into effect in July.

THE eThekwini Municipality has announced a re-evaluation of all properties in early 2026, which has prompted Ward 103 PR councillor, Mxolisi Khubisa, to offer some tips to property owners.

Khubisa called on the municipality to ensure that the process is conducted fairly and that property owners remain “vigilant”.

“We recognise and deeply sympathise with the genuine anxiety and stress this process causes. In an already challenging economy, where many families are struggling with the soaring costs of living and inadequate service delivery, the prospect of a potentially inflated property valuation, which translates directly into a higher monthly rates bill, is nothing short of a cruel burden.”

The new valuation roll will reportedly be published in February next year and is set to come into effect in July.
