Mamba found curled around wine bottle in Westville home

Nick Evans removed a 2 metre Black Mamba from a Westville home this week. The snake was found coiled around a wine bottle in the lounge.

HIGHWAY snake catcher, Nick Evans, has removed a Black Mamba from a residential property in Westville.

Evans said the snake was discovered inside the home, coiled tightly within a wine rack in the lounge area.

According to Evans, the snake was seen entering the house.  Upon arrival, Evans stated that he found the mamba concealed in a confined space, wrapped tightly around a wine bottle.

“The bottle had to be removed first before the snake could be safely extracted,” Evans said.

“The mamba measured approximately two metres in length and was particularly defensive, but the removal was carried out without incident.”

He urged members of the public not to attempt to handle or disturb snakes if they are encountered, emphasising the importance of contacting trained professionals. “Snakes frequently end up in unusual locations. Remaining calm and seeking expert assistance is the safest course of action.”

Residents can contact Nick Evans on 072 809 5806 for snake-related emergencies.
