Hillcrest High happy with exceptional matric results
Hillcrest High School’s Class of 2025 celebrated outstanding matric results, achieving 219 distinctions and 164 bachelor’s passes.
HILLCREST High School Class of 2025 congregated at the school on January 13 eagerly awaiting the results of their National Senior Certificate Examinations.
A total of 219 candidates wrote the matric exams last year, with 164 receiving a bachelor’s pass and 219 distinctions registered overall.
“We were exceptionally pleased with the results achieved,” said Hillcrest High School principal Denise Knight.
“Four of our learners achieved seven distinctions, three achieved six distinctions, four boasted five distinctions and a further three learners achieved four distinctions. Our pass rate improved as did the number of bachelor’s passes which is evidence of the dedication of both our learners and our educators who worked hard to achieve these results.”
The top achievers for 2025 were Hannah King (91.6%), Micaella Hunter (88%), Ethan Ainhirn (87.5%) and Lindokuhle Nyaba (86.4%).

Hannah King achieved 97% for Engineering, Graphics and Design; 95% for life orientation; and 94% for consumer studies.
She also achieved As for English, Afrikaans, tourism and business studies, narrowly missing an A for mathematics.
Hunter achieved 93% for life orientation; 91% for accounting; and 89% for life sciences, along with As for English, Afrikaans, German, and physical sciences. She also narrowly missed an A for mathematics.
Ainhirn achieved 92% for physical sciences; 90% for English; and 96% for life orientation, along with As for mathematics, Afrikaans, geography, life sciences, and a further A for Further Studies in Mathematics, which is written as an IEB subject.
Nyaba achieved 94% for isiZulu; 92% for accounting; 88% for life sciences, along with As for mathematics, physical sciences, life orientation, and English.

Learners who achieved five As were:
- Ariyin Collingwood
- Lola Klijnstra
- Chloe Marais
- Vanessa van der Westhuizen.
Learners who achieved four As were:
- Joe Te Brugge
- Dayna Gagiano
- Khethelo Ngcamu
- Leah Donkin
- Julia Angus.
