Queensburgh resident raises ’moo’la for CHOC
This will be Tatum Terblanche’s ninth year swimming the Midmar Mile and she is aiming to raise R5000 for charity.
QUEENSBURGH resident Tatum Terblanche is again taking on this year’s aQuellé Midmar Mile and raising funds for the Childhood Cancer Foundation of South Africa (CHOC).
Terblanche, a member of the ‘fun’draising arm for CHOC, the Cows, has set a target of raising R5000 (she has already raised R2000) for the foundation this year.
CHOC provides free, comprehensive support to families of children with cancer and life-threatening blood disorders.
This will be Terblanche’s ninth year swimming the Midmar Mile.

“I did my first swim in 2016 and let’s just say I got hooked. The atmosphere, the people and the overall support is tremendous. It gives one a sense of accomplishment no matter the time you do it in,” she explained.
Terblanche, who has previously volunteered at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli Hospital cancer wards, said she’s been a CHOC Cow for eight years.
“I’m always amazed by the work they do. Having been into the cancer wards and seen first-hand the impact they have and the strength of those children battling cancer has given me purpose. It is an honour and privilege raising funds for them and I will continue to do this for as long as I can,” she said.
Following the Midmar Mile, Terblanche hopes to take part in the Polar Bear Swim in June and the Capital-K Open Water Swim in November.
