IN PICS: Local group steps forward in fight against cancer

The Waterlily Women’s Group hosted its annual walk to raise cancer awareness and highlight the power of early detection, support and hope.

TO raise awareness about cancer and promote the importance of early detection, support, and education, The Waterlily Women’s Group hosted a walk on Sunday, February 8.

With most participants wearing pink shirts and others carrying banners, the group met outside the Kloof Civic Centre and walked around the Kloof area.

The theme for this year’s walk, which has become an annual fundraising event, was ‘Walking for hope, strength & awareness’.

Chairperson Ivey Govender said the women’s group also has a cancer support group, which meets once a month at Wyebank Crèche. The support group is for those fighting the disease, for families who have lost loved ones, as well as for those in remission.
