Hillcrest’s Sarah Reed sensational at Curro Podium Grand Finale

She set a new Curro Podium record in the 200m and was the only woman athlete in the field to break the 24 seconds barrier.

SARAH Reed from Curro Hillcrest made a sensational debut at the Curro Podium Grand Finale, storming to victory in both the U17 girls 200m and the U17 100m.

She set a new Podium record in the 200m and was the only woman athlete in the field to break the 24 seconds barrier, outperforming even the South African silver medallist and current record holder.

Reed also serves as captain of the Curro Rising Stars, a select team drawn from eight schools.

She continued her dominance in the 100m, clocking an impressive 11.77 to secure first place and earning a total of 965 ASA points.

Eight provinces, with more than 1500 athletes and 45 schools, took part in the the Curro Podium Grand Finale in Tshwane.

“The Curro Podium creates a platform for young athletes to perform at their best and compete against top talent from across the country.
