Kloof Town Hall upgrades nearing completion
Residents are already seeing the benefits of the upgrades at Kloof Town Hall, with the facility set to open for voter registration this weekend. Meanwhile, work has started on the long-awaited redevelopment of the old Civic Centre building, which will be transformed into a municipal printing facility by 2027.
THE repairs and upgrades which commenced in April on the Kloof Town Hall are now clearly visible.
Ward 10 Councillor Caelee Laing said many residents who have viewed the improvements, particularly to the ablution facilities, have commented positively on the progress made.

“While the project has experienced some delays, the majority of the work has now been completed, with only minor items remaining inside the hall. The municipality has confirmed that the hall will be open for voter registration this weekend.

“However, some minor repair works may continue next week before the project can be officially signed off and completed,” said the councillor.

Laing said she has also received several queries regarding the work being undertaken at the old Civic Centre building.
“This project was originally approved approximately 10 years ago but was delayed due to changes in the scope of work, as well as the additional requirements associated with the building’s heritage status. As a result, the project was deferred to subsequent financial years following its initial approval.”
According to Laing, the municipality has now started work on the building, which will be converted into a municipal printing facility. “According to the municipality, this project is expected to continue until December 2027,” reported the Kloof councillor.
