Pinetown Child Welfare appeals for food donations

The Pinetown Highway Child & Family Welfare Society is calling on the Highway community to help families facing food insecurity.

THE Pinetown Highway Child & Family Welfare Society is appealing to the Highway community to assist with food hampers for vulnerable children and families in need.

The welfare society’s Nallini Munian said Pinetown Child Welfare works daily with children, families and individuals who face difficult circumstances, including poverty, food insecurity and limited access to basic necessities.

“For many of the families we support, putting a nutritious meal on the table is a daily struggle. A food hamper may seem like a small gesture, but to a struggling family it can provide much-needed relief, dignity and hope.

“We appeal to local businesses, community organisations, schools, churches, women’s groups, residents and individuals to support our food hamper drive. We would greatly appreciate donations of non-perishable food items such as rice, maize meal, flour, sugar, cooking oil, canned items, beans, soup, pasta, cereal and other essential groceries.”

Food drive to assist families

Munian said their goal is to ensure that vulnerable families do not have to choose between putting food on the table and meeting other essential household needs.

“With the support of the Highway community, we can reach more families and provide them with a helping hand during challenging times. We believe that no child should have to go to bed hungry. We welcome every contribution, no matter how big or small,” she pleaded.

If anyone would like to contribute any food items, contact Munian on 031 002 6124 or pinetowncws@mweb.co.za.

Sanelisiwe Tsinde

My name is Sanelisiwe Tsinde, and I'm a mother of two boys and very family-oriented. Being a community journalist for years, I can proudly say I love writing about positive community news articles and giving a voice to the voiceless. Seeing people getting assistance warms my heart. Every day is a different challenge and a new learning opportunity. I supply news for our trusted publication weekly, and a few years ago, Caxton ventured into online publication, so I contribute daily to the websites. I could say I am a multimedia journalist, and working in a community newspaper is beneficial as we do not focus on one thing but we do a bit of everything.
