Third suspect sought after fatal shoot-out in KwaNdengezi

Two suspects, wanted for murder and attempted murder, died in an exchange of gunfire between police and suspects in Tafelkop.

THE police in KZN have confirmed that a manhunt is underway for a third suspect following a fatal shoot-out at Tafelkop in KwaNdengezi on Thursday, October 8.

The shoot-out resulted in the death of two suspects who were wanted for cases of murder and attempted murder in Mariannhill and KwaNdengezi.

Police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda said: “Police in Mariannhill received intelligence about suspected stolen goats which were kept at a residence along Intake Road in Tafelkop. Police operationalised the intelligence and when they arrived at the address, 30 goats were recovered. A little later on police received a tip-off that the suspects were at the same premises and an operation was executed. Police approached the suspects and during the operation a shoot-out ensued. Two suspects were shot and fatally wounded during the shoot-out.

“A manhunt is underway for the third suspect who escaped from the crime scene whilst shooting at police officers.”
