Editor, In the Highway Mail of 1 May this year Anita Williams wrote about the blaze that destroyed the homes of two Gillitts families in Sweetpea Lane off Stockville Road.
It seems that her persuasive plea to the community to offer donations of food, clothes and blankets, and also to contribute to the Sweetpea Relief Fund, met with a very generous response from readers.
As it is now five months since the article appeared, I would encourage Ms Williams to write again in order to inform readers about whatever progress may have been made in the two families’ situation, and what possible further assistance may be needed.
