EDITOR – It came as a surprise to me that I had not received the licence renewal notice for my motorcycle, and on checking last year’s one, I discovered that it was already a month in arrears. On enquiring at the Hillcrest Post Office about the non-receipt of the renewal notice, I was informed that the Licensing Department no longer send out the renewal notices.
I was told to fill in the green form and was charged 10 per cent of the licence fee because the payment was late; this of course escalates the longer it is overdue. This is typical of the attitude of government departments towards the man in the street.
Please do yourself a favour and mark the calendar as to when the licence for your car or bike comes due.
