THROUGH the medium of the Highway Mail may I say thank you to all those people who responded so spontaneously when I had been mugged this morning.
I was walking down Crooked Lane at about 11am when I was approached by a young man.
To avoid him, I stepped onto the road, but he snatched a fine gold chain and locket from my neck before I knew what was happening.
Four workers from the Hillcrest Hospital chased him, a very kind lady stopped and then scoured the area in her car; two council members insisted on waiting with me until my husband arrived and other people offered their help, but he was no where to be found.
May my experience be a warning to your readers, don’t walk in the street alone, don’t wear jewellery, don’t carry a bag, stay at home!
