Hike Longshadows to Acutt Drive and return at the Krantzkloof Nature Reserve. Meet at 2pm at Kloof Falls picnic site, Kloof Falls Drive. Reserve entrance is R20. Hike leader is Lawson.
Friday 16 to Sunday 18 January
Rustic charm, good food, easy hiking and sleep in the big rustic farmhouse on Friday and Saturday nights at Berg-Cobham. Only 30 places at R180 each and a two-and-a-half-hour drive. Take everything: bedding, food, bikini. Early booking, pay essential. Exceptional hiking weekend, or just chill out.

Hike the Highstakes: take Cato Ridge exit 53, turn left and follow Highstakes 4×4 Track and store signs. Downhill splendour on the new clear trail, then tea and famous chocolate cake afterwards, or sundowners and dinner at the pub. Hike leader is David.
