Young cricketers give it their all
Two U10 teams took on a host of other action cricket clubs at a tournament in Edenvale.
TWO U10 junior teams represented KZN in Edenvale at the Inter-Provincial Tournament for Action Cricket.
Over the years, KZN has become a force to be reckoned with and the cricketers play with passion and their hearts. “If you have to ask any one of the parents who went on tour, we cry and encourage from the side of the court with great enthusiasm. We have watched our boys win and we have watched our boys lose. With each win and loss our boys grow and get taught that life is not always the way we want it,” said Mandy Roux, a team manager.
The KZN U10A team fought bravely for bronze but were defeated by Eastern Gauteng. The KZN U10 invitational team continued the fight, lost a few games but were triumphant against Lowveld. “I would like to thank each and every player for the great sportsmanship they showed on tour and for believing in themselves even when times got difficult.
“To the coaches, Gary Watkins and Nic Maurel, thank you for your dedication to the sport and to the players. Giving and sacrificing Saturdays to get our boys ready for tour. If it was not for dedicated people like you, we would not have the success we had. To the parents, thank you for giving up your time to prepare them for this tour,” said Mandy.
The teams thanked their sponsors, Stacor Petroleum, Labello, PMV, Escort, Arysta, Crackly’s, Aquella, Georgies, FP Engineering, ND Electrical, Marriott and RCL Foods for their ongoing support.
