Basketball team demolishes Northwood Knights

Seven Kearsney boys were chosen for the waterpolo provincial team.

THE Northwood Knights travelled up the hill on a cold Saturday morning to play basketball against Kearsney College, who demolished their opponents 82-25.

The hosts started well, scoring easily, to run up a big 22-6 lead by the end of the first quarter.

Northwood made some shots early in the second quarter, but Kearsney turned up their defence heat and did not allow them to score again during the latter stages of the quarter. Kearsney were looking comfortable going into half-time with a 37-11 lead.

Northwood did not put up much opposition during the third quarter and Kearsney were able to score 23 points. The coach allowed bench players extended time in the fourth quarter and they struggled a little, showing how much they still need to improve.

The final score was 82-25 to Kearsney.

Top scorers:

Kearsney: Levi DonJeany (29 points, 9 rebounds, 5 steals); Liam Breytenbach (15 Points); Preston Barr (4 points, 4 assists, 6 steals)

Northwood: Motha (12 points); Ting (7 points).
