Villagers’ bag another hat-trick
Three games and three distinctive wins is the best way to describe the beating the HVRC handed to their opponents.

THE Land Rover Durban – Hillcrest Villagers Rugby Club hosted the Durban Mets in their KZNRU first division encounter last week.
In the 2nd XV match, the powerful Villagers’ side dominated their rivals with an upfront and slick display, resulting in a resounding victory of 51-0.
Man of the Match went to Juandré de Beer (forwards) and Damian Heyneke (backline).
Villagers 1st XV, still missing a number of their key players to recurring injuries, showed their skill depth and strength with a well-drilled performance. Due to the injury state, head coach, Mike de Kock, found himself starting as first choice 8th man.
Club legend, Brian ‘Cappy’ Lewis, took the reins and managed the reserve bench and substitutions. Brian, paired with the 1st XV team manager, Kaycee Dalrymple-Kelly, proved to be an awesome management combo.

The highly spirited Mets didn’t stand back but the Villagers overwhelmed their defence and landed a comprehensive 43-3 victory.
Credit was given to the referee, Lusanda Miya, an ex-Ladies Sharks’ and Springbok player, who ensured a well-disciplined and enjoyable evening of first division club rugby.
Man of the Match went to Jonno Deighton (forwards), and Tommy Bezuidenhout (backline).
On Thursday evening, the Envirosan Hillcrest Villagers 3rd XV hosted Ogwini Bafana in their KZNRU 4th division clash.
The Villagers adopted a very structured approach and dominated all phases of the game. A try feast ensued with a score of 33-0 at half-time and a final demolition job of 51-5. Man of the Match for the forwards went to Ruben Goosen and Byron Volek (backline).
The Villagers’ 3rds have earned a bye for the next two weeks.
The Villagers’ 1sts and 2nds will travel to Empangeni this weekend to take on the Empangeni Rhinos.
