Tennis players ace tourney

Eighteen teams competed in the local club's mixed doubles tournament at the weekend.

EIGHTEEN teams laced up for the Pinelands Tennis Club’s mixed doubles tournament at its club recently.

The club’s chairman, Rob Wilson, said the 18 couples played in three sections, dependent on strength.

The players participating were from a range of clubs from the greater Durban area and Pietermaritzburg including Brighton, Cowies Hill, Hillcrest, Kloof, Pinelands, Prospect, Westville and the Valley Tennis Club (Pietermaritzburg).

“The club appreciated the generosity of its own members in terms of donating prizes.

 

 

Section winners:

Section 1: Sune Stander (Hillcrest) and Wayne Manning (Prospect).

Section 2: Michelle Kriese (Kloof Tennis Club) and Mark Cranston (Westville).

Section 3: Sandra and Craig Bekker (Valley Tennis Club).
