Westville claims victory
The two schools had a hard-fought fist half as the score board sat at 0 - 0.

BY half-time, the score sat at a stalemate of 0 – 0 and the match up between Kearsney College and Westville Boy’s High School was considered as an evenly matched game. Kearsney’s goalkeeper, Clayton Yeatman, did exceptionally well in goals and kept the visitors in the game.
Shortly after the break, Kearsney scored from a shot from the left-hand side into the back post, to put them at 1 – 0. Kearsney then obtained a penalty that the Westville goal keeper saved brilliantly.

Westville retaliated with a break-away against the run of play that resulted in a goal that levelled the score to 1 all.
At the death, Westville got a corner and a scramble in the goal mouth resulted in one of their players heading the ball into the net. Westville beat Kearsney 2 – 1.
Sports awards
Kearsney’s rugby players were recognised at a recent annual dinner. On Saturday, 1st XV players, Josh Muller, received an award for most improved player of the year and Massimo Fierro received the players’ player of the year trophy.
