Locals fill up slots in KZN cricket teams
The KZN U19 cricket team will compete at Michaelhouse just before Christmas.
THE KwaZulu-Natal Cricket Union announced its various schools sides which will compete in the national schools’ weeks around the country during December, last Friday evening.
The six provincial teams were capped at a ceremony at the Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium and many of the players represent schools from across the Highway area.
Coastal Cricket Services manager, Ritesh Ramjee, said, “A special word of thanks to the Schools’ Associations and the teachers who do such amazing jobs ensuring that our mandate to grow and improve the quality of cricket in our province is achieved.”

“To the coaches and staff of the KwaZulu-Natal Cricket Union, as well as the selectors, thank you for the role that you have played in getting our teams to where they are today. Congratulations to the players on their selection. We are confident that this group of players, along with management, have done all the necessary work to perform at their best when the national weeks commence.”
The flagship side, the KZN U19 team, will compete in the Khaya Majola Cricket Week at Michaelhouse from 16 to 20 December.
The KZN side will be without the services of SA’s U19 seamer, Lifa Ntanzi, as he has been ruled out of cricket until 2020 due to a stress fracture in his back.
Kenneth Mafunga will be the coach of the U19 side, while former Hollywoodbets Dolphins seamer, Ugasen Govender, was named as assistant coach.
