Soulful singers come to Durban
Catch the talented musos, Josie Field and Laurie Levine, at Music in the Meadows in Hillcrest this Sunday, 16 November at 1pm.
DON’T miss the blues-infused soulful voice of Josie Field combined with the intimate folk, country styles of Laurie Levine, in Durban this November as they travel on their Side By Side SA tour supported by Concerts SA.
They will be performing at Music in the Meadow in Hillcrest on Sunday, 16 November.
They have 16 years experience, nine albums, a dozen SAMA nominations between them, two national tours together and were dubbed the ‘Collaboration of the Year’ (2013, The Star). Having just scooped a Standard Bank Ovation Award at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown 2014, these two Johannesburg-based singer songwriters come together to create a beautiful and unique indie folk collaborative side project, Side By Side.
The Side By Side tour is a real treat for music lovers. These performances are solely acoustic utilising a variety of instruments including guitar, banjo, ukulele and more along with their unique vocal harmonies. They present slightly different interpretations of their most popular songs, allowing both old and new fans to experience the material in a whole new light.
The aim of the tour is to inspire the youth, share in the power of original music by South African female writers and empower young women to do the same by spreading the message.
The tour is supported by Concerts SA through the Music Mobility Fund, a funding mechanism which offers opportunities for South African musicians to undertake live music-related projects.
Music in the Meadow is situated at Meadown Tea Garden, Inanda Road, Hillcrest. The entrance is directly opposite Kirtlington Estate. The show starts at 1pm. Tickets which cost R75 for adults and R45 for pensioners and students, can be purchased at the door.
