Musos pay tribute to Sugarman

Book your tickets now.

WHO would have known that an unknown album from an unknown artist in 1970 (Rodriguez) would become a huge phenomenon in South Africa?

As big as say, Elvis Presley. Rodriguez himself was never aware of his huge success, as well as most other Americans. His music was lost in the US but, by a strange coincidence became a cult hit in South Africa and became a symbol of rebellion for the underground white, anti-apartheid sub-culture.

Join Barry Thomson and The Reals (Dawn Selby, Mali Sewell and Jason Andrew) as they pay tribute to the talented Rodriguez in Cold Fact – Rodriguez at Westville Old Boys Hall, Westville Country Club, 1 Link Road in Westville on Sunday, 11 January at 2:30pm and again at 7pm. The venue opens 90 minutes before the show for picnic lunch or dinner.

The show features all well remembered songs, such as I Wonder, Establishment Blues and Sugar Man, among others.

Tickets cost R120 each, or R100 each for WCC members and pensioners. Tickets can be purchased via cash, Computicket or EFT.

There is a minimum meal option for R50 and you may add on starters and puddings as an extra. Catering by The Venue.

Full cash bar available. No alcohol or food may be brought on to the premises.

Booking is essential. Book at Computicket or contact Roland on 082 499 8636 or e-mail: roland@stansell.za.net.
