Violin and piano classics sound off music revival

Book your seats now for the Music Revival concert at St Agnes Church in Kloof on Thursday, 29 January at 7.30pm.

MUSIC Revival presents the first Classics in Kloof concert for the year at St Agnes Church, Abelia Road in Kloof on Thursday, 29 January at 7.30pm.

This monthly concert series will be presented in the last week of each month. In a varied selection, the highly regarded international concert violinist, Juilliard graduate and popular Concert Master of the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra, Joanna Frankel, partners with Christopher Duigan in a programme of exciting and beguiling compositions.

Included are two rarely performed works by WA Mozart and the ‘Sonata’ by Maurice Ravel, which includes a strong jazz and blues influence. This jazz inspiration is also seen in selections from Gershwin’s ‘Porgy and Bess’, transcribed by Heifetz, and exciting music by South American Alberto Ginastera. Vivacious virtuosity will be heard in Sarasate’s ‘Carmen Fantasy’, a series of improvisations where the violin takes centre stage in music based on popular melodies from Bizet’s Spanish-flavoured ‘Carmen’.

Tickets are R100 – including refreshments. Booking is preferred. Contact St Agnes Church on 031 764 2037, booking@musicrevival.co.za or online at www.musicrevival.co.za.
