DUT represents in Grahamstown

Behind Closed Minds is a new drama and promises to deliver dramatic and emotionally-powerful story.

The Fresh group from DUT will be representing at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown, taking Behind Closed Minds – an intriguing, pacey and highly-theatrical piece written and directed by third-year student, Farrell Drew. It comes to the Courtyard Theatre at DUT for two performances on 24 and 27 July.

DUT is proud to introduce this new production written, directed and performed by its students. The piece is a dark and soul-questioning production that touches on themes such as loyalty, injustice and misuse of power.

The plot of Behind Closed Minds is centred on Dr Victor Duval, his wife and assistant, Anita, as well as the patients who have been released into their care. The production seeks to examine a side of hypnotherapy that has yet to be explained, whilst revealing how the selfishness of one man can destroy the lives of all those who trusted him.

Behind Closed Minds is a new drama and promises to deliver dramatic and emotionally-powerful story. Behind Closed Minds is filled with shocking surprises that serve up huge amounts of breath-stopping suspense.

As quoted by Sihle Mthembu, a guest writer for CUE, “Behind Closed Minds has the advantage of young actors who are willing to go to unfamiliar places and challenge themselves in their portrayal of insanity and relationships.”

Their first performance at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown, Behind Closed Minds is performed by DUT undergraduate students.

It is not recommended for people under 16 years of age – adult content.

The play will be performed on 24 July at 7pm and 27 July at 6pm at the DUT Courtyard Theatre. Entrance is free and all are welcome.
