From music, festivals and model shows – Durban has it all in the upcoming week to keep you and your loved ones entertained.

It’s a Vinyl affair
The next Durban Vinyl Fair takes place on Saturday, July 25 (10:00 until 14:00) at the Stella Sports Club. The club is on Helen Joseph Road in Glenwood. The fair, while offering a wide variety of vinyl records, also has CDs, books and DVDs for sale. For more information contact Mark Clausen on 061 465 1911.

Art festival returns

The Red Mango Arts Festival returned to Sastri College this week and runs until July 25. This is its second edition, featuring a line-up of drama, comedy, music, dance, discussions, books, storytelling, cultural dialogue and artistic collaboration. Founded by South African actor, playwright and director Rajesh Gopie, the festival is hosted in conjunction with Sastri College School.

Highlights include Sydenham Lightie, Global Ballie by Kurt Egelhof; the poignant Pulitzer nominated drama, Letters of Suresh; launch of Imraan Coovadia’s latest book, Enemy of the People; Sufis, Mystics and Qawali – an evening of music poetry and spiritual storytelling; the TUT group are back, with the fun sun-soaked frolic, Mamma Mia; Tonya Koenderman brings her Growing Old Disgracefully; comedy night with Jailoshni Naidoo and friends; two plays for young people, a magic show with Sahil Samlal and a grand finale concert.

One of the events to look forward to is comedy night featuring Jailoshini Naidoo, her fabulous alter ego, Aunty Rumba, and friends for one performance on Friday, July 24 at 20:00.

Naidoo is well known for Aunty Rumba – everyone’s favourite Aunty – her colourful, insanely hilarious alter ego, with her razor-sharp insights, hilarious observations, no-nonsense approach to problem-solving, irascible world view, and general comfortable, old-school familiarity, which makes her both instantly recognisable, easily lovable, and very funny.

Modelcon 2026

The International Plastic Modellers Society (IPMS) Durban hosts its annual model show at the German Club in Westville on Saturday, July 25. Everyone is welcome and visitors can expect model displays and collections. Kits, tools and accessories will be on sale.

Members will be selling completed models. The show will also offer a variety of themes: military, cars, aircraft and more.

Bash with Tash
